6 Strategies to Grow Your Blog on Snapchat

Snapchat is the new social media kid on the block. Trending incredibly well with millenials and early adopters. It’s always best to be one of the first to take advantage of a new thing. But where should you start? How can you build a following and awareness of your blog/brand? Especially when you only have a few seconds?

Here are my 6 tips on how to grow your brand on Snapchat:

1.  Live stream relevant content to your audience. Help users connect the dots between you, your brand, and your site. So if you are a food blogger, for example, share a live feed of you putting the last touch on a juicy dish. Sharing relevant content in real time and around events lets people into your world

2.     Have an exciting message. Share your big news with your viewers. Keep it short and to the point 'cause you only have 10 seconds! This can be anything from landing a gig or announcing a collaboration.

3.     Promote exclusive content. Take advantage of the FOMO factor by making use of personal, exclusive, and teaser content in order to engage your users. This can also include going behind the scenes of a fashion show, photo shoot, concert, speaking engagement, etc.

4.   Let your followers participate. Building engagement is key as it keeps users coming back for more. Hosting a giveaway is a great starting point to capture Snapchat users attention. Plus, who doesn’t like free stuff?

5.     Promote your Snapchat username on your website and all of your other social media platforms.  Pushing your current followers to Snapchat is a quick and easy way to build your audience with the users who you already have a rapport with. You can also try revising your profile pic to your snap chat.

6. Display eye-catching profile snaps. You only have a few seconds to make a first impression. Ditch your logo and add in some creative selfies. Make sure that you have good lighting, and that the photos are relevant to your brand. As you must represent your brand well and look the part. So again, if you are a beauty blogger than your face should be flawless in your selfies.

This should go without saying but I will mention it anyway, consistently snap and network. Your snaps are only viewable for 24 hours so snap constantly. Chat with those in your current network but also make sure that you share and comment on outsiders content as well. When you first start to promote your account make sure you have a story waiting for your followers/fans. Don’t send them to an empty page. Lastly loosen up, add a filter or two when appropriate. Implementing these strategies will jumpstart your Snapchat profile. How have you been building your brand presence on Snapchat? I’d love to discuss it with you in the comments section.
